Hey everyone, I am considering trading in my Refurbished 2018 13" MacBook Pro (2. 3 8th gen i5, 8gb RAM, 512gb SSD, 4 TB3 ports) for a 2020 MacBook Air (1. 1 10th gen i5, 16gb RAM, 512 SSD). I can get $780 for the Pro and the Air will cost $1380 with education pricing, which sets me back $600. My needs: I am temporarily furloughed from my job as an A/V tech at a conference center, but that job requires a decent machine that can handle audio editing and basic 1080p video editing (though I only have to do either a few times a year). During the COVID-19 quarantine, I have been doing more music production, so I primarily need a machine that can handle that currently. Why the Upgrade: I am finding that with my current Pro I burn through the 8gb of RAM really quick in day-to-day usage, I'm frankly sick of the butterfly key switches, and not a huge fan of the Touch Bar. Based on the reviews and benchmarks I've seen, the Air seems to be the Mac to buy right now (10th gen CPU at an entry-level price, 16gb of RAM, and the new Magic Keyboard), so I'm wondering if it's worth the investment for a newer Mac that will likely outlast my current Mac and will provide more RAM wiggle room.
