When he storms out of the room, Sophie follows him to a dry cleaners in Chinatown, but doesn't have the courage to talk to him. Following a party one night, Sophie awakens to find Andrew has attempted suicide. While he recovers in hospital, Sophie goes back to the laundromat. She follows Jihah to his building and waits outside his apartment. When he returns home, Sophie propositions him for sex; she offers Jihah $300 per session, and if they are successful in getting pregnant, an additional $30, 000 in cash. He agrees, and the two have sex. After Sophie accidentally falls asleep after one of their sessions, they begin to bond. While working at the dry cleaners one day, Jihah notices Sophie outside and encounters Andrew who comes in to pick up his jacket. Before their next meeting, a dismissive Jihah takes Sophie out to eat, and says that he saw her husband. They argue after he notes his physical similarities to Andrew; Sophie retorts that all he's good for is his penis. He follows her out into the street, where she breaks down and tells Jihah of Andrew's suicidal tendencies because he is sterile.

Oh well, this is just one of those films that I had to watch. On the other hand, I did feel pretty smart dissecting all of the race/class implications behind the mise-en-scène. I'm glad my professor is awesome. by far the best acted porno I've ever seen It's a bit on the heavy handed side, but it's filmed beautifully, great use of natural light. Ha Jung-woo is such natural actor, the scene in the park where he talks about stacking stones and making a wish is so good. Vera Farmiga is absolutely mesmerising and powerful in this bleak and devastatingly sad story of love, lust and life.

Kim's screenplay isn't a shockwave of originality. Any passing scholar of romantic cinema will recognize the working parts, perhaps even… This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth. I generally liked this story, the emotions between the lovers is slowly developed, and I believed that relationship. I had some problems with the premise though, I'm not sure anybody would do what she did and not think there would be consequences. But without that there's no movie. Another problem I had was how quickly the husband became a villain, going as far as kicking his wife's womb. That's just too much. I understand the anger, but that's just too much for a normal person. And what happened to his suicidal tendencies? They were the whole reason she did this, but in the end it's almost as if they didn't exist. That said, I still enjoyed it enough to recommend it. Recent reviews This review may contain spoilers. okay so Gina Kim is clearly not meant to be a screenwriter and yes the dialogue and plot are contrived and melodramatic BUT I read this interview she gave after I finished watching it in which she described the movie as like a 60s Korean cinema heroine set in a contemporary context who doesn't sacrifice her integrity by the end she says the movie is a case study in a woman's choice to live her life for herself, like a bildungsroman and I do think it was well shot and it's the kind of movie that'll make me yearn for something, you know?
It also features a fantastic violin driven score but unfortunately Never Forever suffers from rushed pacing with its character development and messy editing. Vera plays Sophie Lee, an American woman that is married to a Korean business man. They were trying to get a child for a long time but it turned out he's infertile. Unable to cope with the situation her husband tries to kill herself. In trying to save her marriage she hires the immigrant worker Ji-Hah played by Ha Jung-woo to get her pregnant and tell her husband it miraculously worked despite his infertility. That kinda backfires. Of course it does. Common sense anyone? Sophie of course falls in love with Ji-Hah somewhere along the line… Why was the kid at the end white though I certainly love me some Vera Farmiga, but the premise of this movie is so insane and seemingly insulting in nearly every way.

Plot Arriving home after her father-in-law's funeral, Sophie Lee ( Vera Farmiga), a Caucasian woman, and her husband Andrew ( David Lee McInnis), a Korean-American, have sex on their kitchen table; Andrew breaks down in her arms shortly after. At the doctor's office, Sophie is told that her husband's sperm isn't healthy enough to get her pregnant, and she pleads with Dr. Hanson (Marceline Hugot) to secretly give her someone else's sperm, though the doctor refuses. Sophie is encouraged by Andrew's family to pray for a baby, but when she asks Andrew how to pray, he says God can't make her become pregnant. While waiting for an appointment at the clinic, Sophie witnesses an Asian man, Jihah Kim ( Ha Jung-woo), arrive to make a donation. She listens outside the door during his doctor's interview, and hears that Jihah is an illegal alien and they cannot accept his sperm.
